I started getting headaches in the beginning of my 7 th grade year. At first they were not horrible, as they came only every other day or so, and were not migraine level. After I got my first migraine however, things started getting worse; I now had a headache every day, and it was a more severe headache than before. I was able to function through these headaches, mostly because I was very active, and didn’t allow myself to dwell on the fact that I was in almost constant pain. My doctor told me not to worry about it, because it was most likely due to my changing hormones, and it would go away after puberty.

Puberty came and went, and the headaches stayed. I was now in high school, and had a new doctor, who liked to blame my headaches on stress, and worry. I didn’t think I was stressed out, but I went along with it until my migraines started coming with more frequency. This happened in the middle of 11 th grade, and continued to get worse throughout high school, and into my first year of college. During this time, I had multiple imaging studies done on my brain, and while they did find a benign cyst in my brain, there was nothing else to indicate why I was having the increased issues with the headaches.

My freshman year of college was a real challenge, because of all the class I missed due to the debilitating headaches. At this point I was placed on Topamax, and while it did relieve the migraines, I no longer had sensation in my hands, feet, and face. I thought that it was a fair tradeoff, however, the Topamax made my daily headaches worse, because one of the side effects of Topamax is headaches.

The summer after my freshman year of college, I got a summer job. When I missed a day of work due to a headache, a friend asked me where I was, and when I told him, he said I needed to go see his doctor. I didn’t really expect a whole lot, because I had had treatments before for my head, and while I felt great for about 15 minutes afterwards, my headaches quickly returned. However, I figured that one more try wouldn’t hurt, so I set up an appointment with Dr Stitzel.

After going for only one visit, I was elated to discover that Dr. Stitzel seriously thought he could help me. This was the first time I’d ever been given this type of encouraging news. It was always, “Well, we may be able to help, but there’s no guarantee.” Dr. Stitzel was different; he said if I had the problems that he thought I had, he would be able to cure me for good. Not just a limited treatment, but an actual cure. As it turned out, of the three things that can cause a headache biomechanically, I had a wonderful combination of all three. This didn’t faze Dr. Stitzel; he just said that he liked a challenge.

I started my treatment, and after only a week I could see a marked improvement in my daily headaches. I had a bit of an up and down start, but after only three weeks of treatment I was completely headache-free for a day for the first time in seven years. I have now been without a headache for over two weeks, and it is one of the most amazing feelings I have ever had.

Dr. Woggon,

  I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to return my phone call on August 28th. I called you about being under chiropractic care for 7 YEARS for a curvature in my spine with no real success. In fact, it was getting progressively worse, because I stopped going weekly. This was due to a change in my insurance which only covered 20 visits a year.  I suffered so long physically, emotionally, and financially with having a bad back and not knowing what the real reason was. You gave me hope that day.

You recommended going to Dr. Stitzel in Lititz for an evaluation, because I live in Scranton PA. We talked about how it was a 2 1/2 hour drive.  I wanted to tell you about the positive experience I had there. Clayton did a thorough evaluation on me Sept. 11. He informed me that I had a neck injury and that was why my back wasn't getting better despite my chiropractic treatment. My chiropractor at home never worked on my neck  and only took one set of x-rays the 7 years I was under his care. With this newly found information from my evaluation,  I took a week off from work, traveled 121 miles, and stayed in Lititz from Sept 18 to Sept 22 for treatment. Clayton and his staff were so wonderful during my stay. Clayton focused on every detail of my recovery. He gave every patient the same treatment.  I do not know from where he gets the energy. On Friday, Sept. 22, Clayton took another set of x-rays. There was a dramatic improvement. I no longer look like I have a deformed back. Clayton sent me home with head weights and exercises. I go back on January 8 for a reevaluation.
